Bio
I am Maurice Ferguson, a 24 year old aspiring Photographer, graduating Fall 2009 with a B.A. in Photography from California State University, Sacramento. I consider myself an artist & a tech enthusiast, & my work encorporates both of these strengths.My intent for this website is that it should serve as a limited résumé, portfolio of my current & past work, & access point for potential clients. My services include photo services such as portraits, events, & advertising, as well as restoration/retouching of photos, design of interactive or printed media, & coding for websites & applications. As I pursue my career through local employment & freelance projects, the results of these endeavors will be posted here as a growing, centralized body of work.
My employment background includes several freelance photography & web design jobs, a photographer position at the Capitol Weekly Newspaper, the CSUS State Hornet Newspaper, as well as work in retail & office settings. For more information, feel free to contact me.

This site's header is now written completely in SVG, with fallback code for older browsers.
It also shows a preliminary version of my new twitter applet, which I hope to release as a fully skinnable WordPress Plugin sometime soon.

I just got word from the curator that my photo Infrared House2 will be showing in Twelve: The Play of Light, a photo exhibit at the Viewpoint Gallery in December.
Wilson Lin Photography is now live, featuring photos from Wilson's most recent series Small People as well as some better known work from his undergraduate career. More information will be posted there soon.
I'm scheduled to shoot engagement & wedding photos for a few couples this December, which should yield some good portfolio material.
I am also working on a few demo websites & webpage applets, each of which will demonstrate how the use of svg can make for faster, more graphic, more dynamic web experiences.

This site's header now contains my new logo, displayed using SVG in SVG-capable browsers, & filling in with a normal image file in non-capable browsers like Internet Explorer. Click on the logo to read more about it.

Three announcements to make:
My book Alien Views is finally finished & is available for purchase from Blurb.
My infrared photo House1 won the Award of Merit at the State Fair.
My series Body As Flower stayed up an extra month at the Lavender Library & will be going up at Butch 'N' Nellie's coffee shop on August 4th.

My series Body As Flower is now showing at the Lavender Library downtown, & a piece from my infrared series is showing in the Members' Exhibit at the Viewpoint. Both will be up until July 4th. I am also tentatively booked for a solo show at Butch 'N' Nellie's coffee shop for this August, & for the Fine Art Contest at the State Fair.

Right now I am focusing on 2 main photo series, Body As Flower, based on an earlier project, pairing anonymous portraits with the forms of flowers, & Alien Views, a series of photos recording infrared rather than visible light, & showing a unique new view of everyday places & objects. In early June I will be publishing my work for Alien Views in a book through blurb books.
