Body As Flower
Fall 2008-Present
Exhibited at the Lavendar Library June 2009
Exhibiting at Butch 'N' Nellies Coffee August 2009
In our culture, flowers are symbols of natural beauty, & of love- both admirable notions & only a short step away from the controversial ideas of identity & sexuality. The fact is that everyone can appreciate the uniqueness of a flower, & in the same moment, fail to value the unique attributes of other people. In nature, flowers are vessels of sexuality, yet they are almost always hermaphrodytic, not fitting neatly into one gender role. I hope my photos will invite comparison between the flora & human subjects & promote a rethinking of how we treat those different from ourselves, & just what behavior is really "normal."

Alien Views (infrared photos)
Spring 2008-Present
This is an ongoing project capturing infrared photos of the everyday, revealing the totally foreign natures of the objects & places we believe we know so well. The photos are divided into the categories of skyscapes, landscapes, closeups, & night. A coffee table book of photos from this series is available through blurb.com.
