  The 16th of October this year marked the 40th anniversary since Martin Luther King Jr. spoke at the Sacramento State University Campus. The University Union hosted keynote speakers & a discussion on the future of civil rights. Just outside of the Union, demonstrator Mr. Otter voiced his opinions regarding MLK.

  Mr. Otter told the crowd that Martin Luther King was a Christian Reverend & was therefor against homosexuality, & that homosexual advocates misuse his legacy when claiming that their goals are the same as King's.

  Student Chelsea Short held up her own sign beside & in opposition to Mr. Otter's.

  Other Students, including Sacramento State Pride Center Coordinator Alexa Harris, challenged his ideas in open debate on the quad. When asked about his educational background, Mr. Otter stated he had his "A.B. Degree from Berkley."

  Mr. Otter continued the debate as student after student raised the same issues, became frustrated, & eventually walked away. Mr. Otter stood with his sign for several hours.
